Hello fellow Almaty expats and other HHH !
I am a 28 year old Australian recently moved to Almaty to live and work (or vice versa) and I am looking for a (slightly crazy and demented) social outlet. After being surrounded by non-English speaking teachers and rich git students all day I need to wind down at the end of the week and ... well... the HHH sounds like a perfect excuse to get pissed (o elegantly intoxicated).
The posts all seem pretty old on this board though and there are no upcoming events. Is the HHH still active? Surely it can't be that hard to get half a dozen or more people together to drink and have fun? Anyway, I would love to join if you'll have me? You can check out my photos at www.pbase.com/souls_edge

Also, by the "rich git" comment can I assume you're teaching at KIMEP? Because there's supposedly another ex-Tien Shan HHHer there, Pocket Shadow from the frozen tundra of Canada.
A teacher and a lonely alcoholic
No I teach at ICCE - a great school by the way (in case anyone reads this who knows me there as I am the only foreign teacher). Problem is, although I've only been here a few weeks my social life sucks, the clubs here are too expensive and where else do you meet people? I'm not proud to say that in the past three weeks I've consumed six bottles of vodka at home (by myself) watching DVD's that I've seen a dozen times before. Sad. I know.
So what do we have to do to get this thing started again??! I'm here. I'm willing. In my opinion you only need a few people to start it off and then it will grow. There are a number of ex-pats in the city now as well as friendly locals who enjoy a pint or five.

Any luck??? it's been a year, and i should be coming to Almaty from Singapore at the end of April (2008) or maybe May!! Hope there are some activities, and not a dead Tienshan!!!

Ouch!!! I realised that the last post on this site is more than 1 year ago...and the Tienshan HHH has been in hibernation for the last 19 months!!
I know there have been many many expats in Almata since then.. What happens to the forum and English speaking blokes???!!! Let's get this site moving and alive again!!
