Where the Hell are the Almaty Hashers???

Hello despicable hashers!
Am a 4-year-old hasher (surprised I can write at such a young age...?), former Moscow-HHH Hash Mattress, former Dushanbe (Tajikistan) hasher, longing for Almaty hashership, after your beer blessing, of course. Originally from the beautiful land of Italy (we make beer too, not just wine and pizza).
Have just moved to the City of Apples and will join a beer piss soon, hopefully this Sunday 24 Sep 06 already (anybody there?) despite the undersigned's legendary lazyness.
Will be happy to help revive the Tien Shan Hash, particularly with some due nastiness, but will do so from January.

Are you or anybody going this Sunday? If so, is it at 15.00 or 17.00 now?

No hash, just beer
There is no regular meeting time these days because there is no regular event. Temir Dick might be able to say when the last run was, but it may be about a year ago or so.
However, a group of people including some Tien Shan HHH alumni will be meeting for beers at the Stalker Cafe at the intersection of Tole Bi and Zenkov streets (the little bar just before Mad Murphy's) for beer at 16:00 this Sunday the 24th.

Sorry, couldn't make it. Got rapped up in a game of poker (which I won!). Did the meeting go ahead? Is there much interest to start this thing up again. I am here, have a British teacher friend who will be into it, as well as a Kyrgyz gal who spent so long in the U.S she has an American accent. I am willing to help but tell me now or else I'll start my own damn club. Can't be that hard...

I think basically what we were all saying is that if you do want to start your own hash, there are those who would support you in that. The hash is not active now because there is no one who can dedicate the time necessary to mis-organize it every week.
If you want to call that the revival of the Tien Shan HHH, that's super-- if you want to call it something else, that's fine, too.
There was a collection of ex-hashers at Stalker this past weekend; as usual we were waiting for the new blood to show up that never made it
Pre-X-mas drink
I here the Almaty Hash is still alive somewhere out there, though myself has failed to find any visible track of it...
Unless everybody has already fled the cold steppes of Kazakhstan to happily celebrate their X-mas with their beloved ones, I propose to meet this Friday night (or over the weekend), old hashers - new hashers, for a beer or what more at Mad Murphy's.

Don't Tell Me There's No Astana HASH!?!?!
Does anyone actually "live" in Astana? Are vast quantities of beer, social decadence and a general lack of "Good Form" dispensed in Astana?!?!? Hello.... is anyone out there!?... There's barely an Almaty hash (one year since last run) and until the Embassies move I doubt there's enough of an expatriate population to support one in Astana.
Of late, not as many members of the diplomatic community have been participants in the hash. It's been ages since any of the marine detachment attended regularly, and even USAID contractors have been sparse the last few years.
There is increasing interest in reviving the Almaty hash... how many visits to Almaty will you get a year?

I will be in Almaty in May and would like to join the Hash for a run or two. Can someone tell me if this Hash is still around?
Not really
To the best of my knowledge it has not been active for some time but special events are always possible. Post another note when you get in town if you feel like it.
Almaty starting again
Hey there, it's Eugenia WYW, who started this chat. I actually did show up the Sunday after I wrote, both at 15.00 and 17.00 (wasn't sure whether to rate it as 'winter' or 'summer' hash time...), but didn't find Stalker, so checked MadMurphy's but couldn't identify anybody who could slightly resemble a hasher...
I'm DEFNITELY motivated to start up the hash again, but will need my weekends at least until mid December to hopefully finish my dissertation. Will be happy to get hooked up in mismanagement after that.
In the meantime, if anybody sends an email address, we can exchange mobile phones and at least go out for a beer or sth. MIne is:

I also travel quite often to Astana for work, so if missions fall close to the weekend, I can probably stay longer and hook up with whoever wants to hash or go for a beer there (but I would need a free bed for any extra days!).
In the meantime, one suggestion: to bring the hash from a weekly event to a biweekly (i.e. every 2 weeks). At the Moscow hash this was one of the reasons why people wouldn't show up: for some every week may be a lot. This doesn't rule out that people can meet informally more often, without the 'commitment' to hash.

Hash Revival
I wish you all well in reviving the Hash. I left Almaty at the end of 2001, and have been involved with hashes in Montenegro, Albania, India, Armenia and Bulgaria since then. But I still regard the original Tien Shan Hash as the golden age of my hashing life. Such a collection of dissolutes--albeit bright and creative dissolutes. Lots of activities. The most disgusting of Hash names--MMF (Married Mother Fucker), Sheep Fucker, Deep Goat, Spermbank, Cums Alone, etc. I returned briefly to Almaty a couple times after that, but the last time I went to the Hash I was the only person who showed up. So I just had to get pissed by myself. I'll check the status of the revival if I ever get back.
